PLEASE NOTE: Some companies offer the crate with ‘jointing gap’ already included in the total coverage. For example, if we added jointing gap to our 18.50sqm patio kits we could in theory charge for 19.50sqm or 20sqm. Whilst this is not regulated, it is important to CHECK as you don’t want to be sold short. IF your project requires you to purchase multiply kits you could be losing money.

The jointing gap is referred to the gaps when the stone is laid side by side.

It’s important to note to ALWAYS leave a gap between the stones to allow the stone to expand and contract.

If you choose to BUTT JOINT your paving stone, which is to lay without any gaps we strongly advise against this method.

The edging of the paving stone can be described as below;

Hand-cut, chiselled and fettled refer to professional workers splitting the paving stone and leaving the edging as natural to match the surface.

Sawn or machine-cut refer to the stone being cut through a machine process. The stone is passed through a machine and cut to provide straight edges and lines. This type of edging is easier to butt joint.
